First time I challenged my society’s view to diversity, My mother had mentioned that the neighbor’s daughter is a bad girl. And I dared to ask why. Dared to utter the words why, Heavy words, those words.
Words that have served me well over the years gone by
Words that have questioned the unquestionable and to cause a rethink Words that have earned me glances and drawn daggers
Words that have opened doors and met embraces
It’s such a powerful word in shattering barriers
It’s such a powerful word in challenging views
And maybe if we dared to ask
Why the Same Sex Marraige Law was passed?
And what if we dared to ask, the reason behind the reason
Then maybe, just maybe,
Maybe someday, sometime,
A few of our why’s will germinate
And birth a massive critical rethink.
